Our first campers of the summer will be arriving Sunday to stay with us for a week-long session!
This is always an exciting time for us at Camp because we’ve been eagerly preparing for the campers to arrive so that we can create positive memories that we hope will last them a lifetime. During the weeks leading up to Camp, staff members go through intensive training to prepare them for their important role as caretakers. From certification training to learning proactive behavior management strategies, we are very deliberate about the preparation for these special children.
ust as we’ve been preparing, we know our camper families have been preparing, too! The moments leading up to a camper’s stay can be filled with mixed emotions for campers and parents. Feelings of excitement, nervousness and even the fear of missing out on something can be overwhelming. For those who are unsure of what to expect, be sure to read about what to expect on the first day of Camp and how to prepare.
Technology has created a lot of challenges for traditional overnight camps because many children are accustomed to being digitally connected and rarely “unplug” for an entire week. Being phone-sick at Camp is becoming more and more prevalent but preparation by practicing unplugging can really help.
