It’s here, it’s finally here! Believe it or not, Camp is just around the corner and it is time to get the junior members in your life registered for a session this summer.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the American Camp Association National Conference, which was held in Orlando, Fla. It had been 20 years since my parents had taken my sister and me to Disney. As soon as I walked in the gates at Epcot, I quickly remembered just how magical Disney is. It also immediately made me think about all of the magic there is at Camp and all the magic that is possible through our community of campers. I absolutely love that I get to be a part of the magic of Camp and hope you will consider allowing your camper to join us this summer!
Camp Registration Information
Registration information was recently mailed to the policy payors of eligible junior members. The brochure contains registration information and important summer updates.
Registration will be completed online via the Hermann Sons Life website. During the registration process, you will be able to purchase a Camp Store voucher for your child that is worth $20. These also can be purchased from the Camp Store on the first day of your camper’s session. These vouchers will be used by your child during their visit to the Camp Store during the week. Change cannot be made for these vouchers and it will be the only opportunity for your camper to use their voucher. We will encourage them to use the whole voucher and help them select items that total $20.
Parents and guardians will continue to have the opportunity to send a Skunk Note via our free one-way email service. In order to use this free service, you will need to keep the registration brochure that has your unique login information printed on it. In addition to one-way emails, this login information will allow you to view the photo gallery for the summer.
Summer Theme
This summer our theme is #choosekindatcamp. We are going to be focusing on the positive and how we can be kind to others, not only at Camp, but everywhere. At Camp we have the unique opportunity to provide campers with skills that they can use outside of Camp, and we think kindness will be a wonderful addition to those skills.
During Week 3 we will continue to have a full-camp dance, carnival and rocket launch to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Traditional Half-Week Session
This year the traditional half-week session will be held at Riverside Camp for boys and girls. We are excited about this opportunity because it will allow us to offer a wider variety of activities for our half-week session campers. Campers will still have a full-camp dance as well as an opportunity to launch the model rockets they build during the week.
Grief Support Session
We will be holding our second Grief Support Session at our Hilltop Camp July 8-11. It is available to members and non-members ages 6-17. Applications for the Grief Support Session will be available at the same time traditional camper registration begins later this month. More information about what happens at this session, how to apply to attend and how to get involved by volunteering will be included in my next blog.
