The Hermann Sons-Camp 2017 countdown has officially begun! The first session begins on June 11. We could not be more excited for all of the memories we will make this summer!
Registration information
Hermann Sons-Camp registration information was mailed to the policy payors for eligible junior members in mid-March. The brochure contains registration information and important summer updates.
Registration will be completed online via the Hermann Sons website once again this summer.
During registration you will have the opportunity to purchase a Camp Store Voucher for your camper. This voucher will be printed and given to campers on the day that their dorm visits the Camp Store. The voucher is valued at $20 and campers will need to spend the total amount. We will be unable to make change for the vouchers through the Camp Store. We are offering this option in lieu of care packages this summer. The voucher can only be purchased during the registration process.
Once again this summer we will be offering free one-way emails through the website. In order to use this free service, you will need to keep your registration information so you can use your unique login information to send the one-way emails. In addition cabin photos and dorm candids will be posted for you to view using the unique login. At the conclusion of the session additional photos will be uploaded from the award ceremonies.
Summer theme
The theme for the entire summer – all eight sessions – will be “Super Summer.” The staff will be looking for all things superhero-related.
During Session 3 a full-camp dance will be held and there will be a carnival and rocket launch to celebrate the Fourth of July. We will also have a full-camp dance during the traditional half-week that will include a rocket launch.
STEM Exploration
In the past few years there has been a growing interest in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activity at Camp. This activity will be offered at both sites – Hilltop and Riverside – this year and can be taken by any age camper.
During this activity, campers will work together to put together a small solar-powered robot. In addition campers will have the opportunity to complete some STEM-based challenges with a team during the week.
Assistant director named
Jesus Ocana has been named the assistant camp director for Hilltop. This will be Jesus’ sixth summer on staff. In the past he has worked as a counselor and senior counselor. During the past two summers he served as one of the climbing specialists.
He will be assisting Hilltop Camp Director Hunter “Papa Bear” Miller who will be returning for his 11th summer at Camp and third as the Hilltop leader.
